Cold / heat therapy is recommended by doctors as a complete treatment of minor injuries. Cold therapy decreases surface temperature of the affected area and causes the vein to shrink, which spreads to adjacent areas helping to control the swelling, reduce pain and relax tension. It is recommended for the first 48 hours after an injury. Heat therapy increases skin temperature and causes the vein to dilate. The increased blood flow in the affected area helps to reduce pain, relieve tiredness, and accelerate healing process. It should not be used until 48 hours after an injury.
Material: 35% polyester, 65% rubber.
Size approx: 22cm x 23cm with adjustable velcro closure at the back.
Cold: Put pack in freezer for two or more hours. Clean and bind the skin with wound first. Apply the pack to the desired area. Remove if it becomes uncomfortable. Always use it with the cover provided or a thin towel.
Hot: Soak pack in boiling water (away from heat source) for about 5 minutes. It can also be heated in a microwave by putting it in an appropriate container and covering with water. Heating time should not be more than 2-3 minutes. The pack can be repeatedly heated and used. However the heating time of successive usage should not exceed 30seconds.
- Always check temperature at the back of the hand before using
- Pack may break due to overheating and over-pressure on the hot pack, and gel leakage may cause scald.
- It is inapplicable for patients with serious diseases. Those with circulatory problems and who are feeling unwell for a long time are advised to use under doctors instructions.
